Diversity and inclusion policy
On behalf of GCE, we are committed to creating a safe, respectful and harassment-free work environment for all of our employees. It is our priority to adopt a set of principles and practices that foster a work environment or community that values and respects the diversity of its members.
Definition of Diversity:
Diversity refers to the variety, difference or dissimilarity that exists between things, people or ideas. In a broader sense, diversity encompasses a wide range of aspects, including:
Biological diversity:
refers to the variety of life on Earth, from the simplest to the most complex organisms. This diversity includes genetic variation, species diversity, ecosystem diversity and landscape diversity.
Cultural diversity:
This refers to the variety of cultures that exist in the world. This diversity is manifested in different languages, traditions, beliefs, values, customs, art forms and social expressions.
Human diversity:
refers to the variety of characteristics that distinguish individuals from one another. This diversity includes racial, ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, physical and mental abilities, among others.
Diversity of thought:
This refers to the variety of ideas, perspectives and opinions that exist in a society. This diversity is essential for intellectual development, creativity and innovation.
Definition of Inclusion:
Inclusion goes beyond the mere presence or existence of diversity. It refers to an active process that seeks to: Integrate all people into society, regardless of their characteristics or group membership; likewise it seeks to ensure access and full participation of all in different areas of social life, such as education, employment, health, culture and politics, promoting a sense of belonging and respect for differences.
Understanding these concepts and Dynamics GCE will provide a healthy, safe and appropriate working environment for its employees. Implementing mechanisms to eradicate any act that violates these two principles, with the participation of partners, workers and contractors. Associates have the right to work in an environment free of all forms of discrimination and conduct that could be considered harassment, coercion or disruption, rejection or generate any kind of harm.
For its part, GCE is committed to prevent possible behaviours and defend the right of all employees to be treated with dignity at work, so that the prevention of these behaviours is integrated into the management systems it develops, in order to achieve a joint collaboration in the implementation of the prevention plan in favour of inclusion and diversity in the workplace, regardless of the place where it is located.
In order to ensure that all employees of this organisation have a working environment in which the dignity of the individual is respected, any form of discrimination, in all its forms and shapes, regardless of who is the victim or the offender, is fundamentally rejected. Any person involved in a harassing behaviour or act of discrimination that affects our concept of diversity and inclusion will be subject to investigation in accordance with current regulations, procedures and the respective disciplinary measures established in the internal work regulations.
GCE will take appropriate disciplinary action against any individual found at fault, which may range from a written warning to termination of employment, depending on the severity of the behaviour and the company’s internal policies. Any form of retaliation against employees who file a complaint in good faith will not be tolerated. Any act of retaliation will be treated as an additional violation of this policy and may result in disciplinary action.
GCE will provide regular training on the prevention of discrimination and will expand information about diversity and inclusion and its ways of presenting itself in the world and in the corporate setting to all employees, as well as resources for reporting and addressing related concerns. All team members are encouraged to actively participate in these awareness initiatives. The company is committed to providing appropriate support and resources to victims of discrimination, including confidential counselling, legal assistance and protective measures in the workplace, as needed.
All employees are required to comply with this policy and to cooperate fully in any investigation related to allegations of workplace harassment. Violation of this policy may result in disciplinary action, including termination of employment, and this policy will be reviewed annually to ensure its relevance, appropriateness and effectiveness. This policy will come into effect from 1 April 2024 and is an integral part of the internal work regulations, as well as the employment contracts of each employee. The policy is sent by email to all employees and is shared in advance so that they can comment on it and make any relevant comments.
